EMILY KNUTZEN, LMFTA (she/her)

ASSOCIATE CLINICIAN

Emily believes that the therapy room is a place for vulnerable engagement of some of life’s most difficult moments and she believes that relationships can be a powerful place for healing. For that reason, Emily seeks to engage clients in therapeutic relationships that create safety for authentic connection and that model new ways of feeling, communicating, and relating to ourselves and others.

Emily values her role as a partner and mutual explorer in client’s journeys of healing, believing that clients hold the expert role for their own lives. She is grounded in her practice with a lens of Narrative therapy–which highlights language, stories and context–and incorporates aspects of Internal Family Systems and Emotion Focused Therapy.

Emily’s clinical interest includes working with individual teens and adults as well as couples. As a biracial Korean American woman, Emily practices with particular attunement to aspects of racial identity and culture and she especially enjoys partnering with interracial couples in creating space for conversation about race, culture, and dynamics of power. In addition, Emily enjoys addressing experiences of anxiety and/or depression, identity development, and relational trauma.
